APAR's Speciality Oils Division with a refining capacity of over One Lakh Tons per annum of Speciality Oils is a pioneer and market leader in manufacturing POWEROIL brand Transformer Oils and commands over 50% of market share in India.
APAR produces a comprehensive range of low sulphur Naphthenic and Paraffinic base Transformer Oils from selected high quality base stocks through a multistage refining, continuous clay contacting and vacuum filtration process. These severely hydro treated oils free from polar compounds have very high oxidation stability and ageing properties guaranteeing long product life. Selection of the naphthenic base oils with low VI (Viscosity Index ) ensures excellent cooling characteristics due to low viscosity at high temperatures and high solvency at very low temperatures. These optimum refined Transformer Oils also possess very good electrical and insulating properties, oxidation stability and the controlled gassing tendency characteristics. Extensive efforts are taken to up grade our oils to meet the latest more severe extra stringent control requirements of very low corrosive sulphur like the ASTM D 1275 B ( Doble's Modified ) and Cigre's TF A2 - 32.01 Test 2 Methods. APAR offers Transformer oils tailor made to suite the exact requirements of different Transformers and latest National / International Standards.
To maintain the product leadership through quality our manufacturing plants have unique dedicated tanker flushing and filling arrangements for bulk supplies and a high speed automatic drumming line both of which are equipped with dry air and nitrogen blanketing. APAR'S ISO 9001 - 2000 & ISO 14001 - 2004 accredited quality assurance system requires more than 21 Quality Tests to be performed on each batch of oil produced to determine all physico - chemical and critical electrical properties like Breakdown Voltage, Dielectric Dissipation Factor ( Tan δ ) and Ageing Profile of the Transformer Oil.
The well equipped sophisticated R & D and Quality Control laboratories at APAR'S manufacturing units form the nucleus of its close cooperation with leading Transformer manufacturers and OEMs like ABB, SIEMENS, AREVA, BHEL etc to proactively develop newer grades meeting the latest International Standards like IEC 60296 - 2003, ASTM D 3487 - 2000, BS 148 - 1998 Class I / IA & II / IIA, DIN 57370 / VDE 7370, AS. 1767.1 - 1999, Doble's TOPS and also the earlier International Standards like the IEC 296 - 1982 Class I / IA & II / IIA and the BS 148 - 1984 Class I / IA & II / II A and the National Standards like IS 335 - 1993 and IS 12463 - 1988. POWEROIL Transformer Oils are also equivalent to Shell Diala a-ax, b-bx and d-dx grades in terms of their performance characteristics.
APAR has successfully supplied over 3000 KL of Transformer Oil for a major ABB, Sweden HVDC project after due certification from ABB, Sweden. APAR'S exports are currently over 15 countries including Middle East countries like UAE, Oman, Iran and Saudi Arabia, Greece, Cyprus, Malaysia, Philippines, Brazil, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Vietnam, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia, Newzealand etc.
